Student Essay Contest Deadline Fast Approaching!

The deadline to submit an essay to our annual Student Essay Contest is coming soon! This year we’re asking students to answer the question “What WWII invention or innovation has had the greatest impact on your life?”  This question has generated hundreds of wonderful, imaginative essays from students across the globe. The deadline for essay submissions is fast approaching and we encourage interested students to enter before March 31st.

2012 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Alan Turing, the father of the modern computer, and the 70th anniversary of the first use of penicillin to save a life. These are only two of the many inventions and innovations from WWII that continue to impact the world today. As students reflect on this year’s essay question, they will find interesting (and surprising) ways that these innovations and inventions from WWII link to their own lives.

Student essays should not be research papers. Essays will be evaluated primarily for their originality, clarity of expression and adherence to contest theme, as well as their historical accuracy, grammar, spelling and punctuation.  WWII museum staff will read and evaluate entries.
