James Beard Award-winning Chef John Besh paid a visit to the Museum Store on November 2, 2011 to autograph copies of his new cookbook, My Family Table: A Passionate Plea for Home Cooking.

My Family Table explores the conviction that the simple act of cooking can change our way of life, and captures the spontaneity, intimacy, and fun of home cooking. With more than 150 color photographs and 140 recipes, it offers dishes for every occasion as well as special cooking tips to help you maximize ingredients and plan meals ahead.

Chef Besh also gave a nod to his service in the US Marine Corps with this touching dedication for My Family Table

“Of course this book is for my family. And for your family, too.  It is also for the thousands of parents and children, brothers and sisters, separated from their families in defense of our nation, dining on Meals Ready to Eat so far from those they love, and so far from their own family tables.”

Chef John Besh is a New Orleans native and renowned chef of eight acclaimed restaurants, including the Museum’s own American Sector and Soda Shop.
