SciTech Tuesday: Underwater Robotics Team Visits the Museum

Coach Robert Richards, left, with members of the Stockbridge Advanced Underwater Robotics Team.
The Advanced Underwater Robotics Team from Stockbridge High School in Michigan visited the Museum today in preparation for their February 12, 2014 Lunchbox Lecture. In New Orleans for the Underwater Intervention convention and exhibition, the Stockbridge Advanced Underwater Robotics Team builds submersible robots to search for missing WWII aircraft. The student-led team has fundraised over $42,000 to send members on an expedition to locate a B-24 Liberator downed during the Battle of Peleliu, in which all eight crew members were lost. Not only are these students preserving history, but they also provide answers and closure to the families of missing service members.
