Sullivan’s Travels
The comedy classic Sullivan’s Travels, directed by Preston Sturges, opened in New York on 28 January 1942―70 years ago today. Initially censors did not approve the film for overseas release, because it was believed that the film’s scenes showing prisoners in a chain gang could be used in anti-American propaganda by the Axis powers. Today the film is widely considered to be one of the finest movies about movies ever made and is a must-see!
